Guidelines
CollectionDB (CDB) is a shared catalogue built by its users, and a place to show your collection. These guidelines keep it accurate, useful and pleasant for everyone.
As everyone can register collections of any type, the site lists objects that could make you uncomfortable. Choose what you see with the explicit items filter on your settings page.
Community rules
- Be accurate. Add real products with information you can verify (the box, the book, the maker's or a shop's page). When unsure, leave a field empty rather than guess.
- Search before you add. Duplicates split collections and history: improve the existing item instead.
- Improve, don't fight. If you disagree with an edit, explain it to a moderator instead of reverting again and again.
- Be respectful. No insults, harassment, hate speech or discrimination, in usernames, profiles, lists or descriptions.
- No spam. No advertising, referral or affiliate links, or repeated content.
- Flag adult content. Follow the NSFW rules below. Content sexualising real people without their consent is forbidden and will be reported.
- Respect copyright. Only upload pictures you took or are allowed to use (see Copyright).
- Report problems. Write to contact.axordow.studios@gmail.com for wrong, illegal or offensive content.
Adding an item to my collection
To add items to your collection, type the name of the item or of its source in the search bar. typing "Harry Potter" will show you the Harry Potter volumes 1 to 7, and the source "Harry Potter". Clicking on an item link will lead you to its page, where you can add it to your collection with different statuses:
- Wished
- Ordered
- Owned
- Previously owned
- Not wished
If you do not find your item after a thorough search on the site, you can add it and refer yourself to the next section.
Adding an item to the database
If you already searched for an item on the Browse page and didn't find it, you can add it by going to the item creation page.
Category
You will first have to choose the fitting category and subcategory for your item. Let's say you want to add Harry Potter volume 1; it would go to Books & print > Novels. When that choice is made, the rest of the creation form will appear. Some fields are specific to some categories, so they appear depending on your subcategory choice.
Images
You can add a Main Image to your item, and up to 10 secondary images. Use the crop tool to create the item thumbnail from the main image, and flag the image as NSFW if it contains nudity or adult content. You can import images from your pc, or input an image url (Note that some urls won't work depending on the website).
Title/Original Title
Title is NOT a required field. Use it only when appropriate, like for books or objects. When setting a title, the field "Original title" is mandatory. These two fields will most of the time contain the same value, UNLESS the original title is not written using the alphabet: in this case, the title must be the equivalent of the original title but using the alphabet.
For example:
- For Harry Potter volume 1, Title would be "Harry Potter 1" and Original Title would be "Harry Potter 1".
- For とある科学の超電磁砲 volume 1, Title would be "Toaru Kagaku no Railgun 1" and Original Title would be "とある科学の超電磁砲 1".
Note that if the item is an adaptation (Toaru Kagaku no Railgun published in English), the Title and Original title will be the title of the adaptation, "A Certain Scientific Railgun 1".
The volume number goes at the end of the title (and of the original title), as written on the item: "Harry Potter 1", "Campus Life Vol. 2". The name shown on the site is built from the title and the other fields (characters, artists, companies…), so don't repeat them in the title.
Version/Original version
The version indicates if an item is a specific variant of another item, like "Deluxe Version". The Title and Original Title rules apply to Version and Original Version.
Origin
The origin is the country where that specific item was manufactured.
- The origin for the manga "Toaru Kagaku no Railgun" published in Japan is Japan
- The origin for the adaptation of the manga "Toaru Kagaku no Railgun" published in the USA is the USA
Sources
The source of an item can be books, shows, movies, video-games... If an item doesn't have a source, put "Original" as source.
Examples:
- The source for Harry Potter volume 1 is "Harry Potter"
- The source for the Harry Potter broom keychain is "Harry Potter"
Characters
Characters are the characters featured in the item. It is not a mandatory field. Do not add the characters if the item is the original content.
Examples:
- Do not add characters to Harry Potter volume 1.
- Do not add characters to Harry Potter movie 1.
- Add the character "Ron Weasley" to the Ron Weasley PVC figure.
Artists
The artists involved in making that item. You can choose how they were involved after selecting the artist. It is not a mandatory field.
Companies
The companies involved in making and distributing that item. You can choose how they were involved after selecting the company. It IS a mandatory field.
Classifications
Classifications can help to specify the type or product line of an item.
Examples:
- Toaru Kagaku no Railgun is in the Books subcategory, we can add the classification Manga for it to be more precise
- Harry Potter is published by Bloomsburry in the Bloomsbury Children's Books product line
Materials
Materials refer to the materials used in the item. Do not add obvious materials like "paper" for a book. It is not a mandatory field.
Events
The events where the item was first released, if there are. You can create a release based on the event name and date by clicking on the corresponding button.
Releases
The different (or unique) releases of the item. The only mandatory field on a release is the year, and an item can have no releases at all if they are unknown.
The release type can be:
- Standard: It was released and sold in multiple stores, with no stock limit
- Limited: It was released and sold in multiple stores, with a stock limit
- Exclusive: It was released and sold in a single store or event, with no stock limit
- Limited & Exclusive: It was released and sold in a single store or event, with a stock limit
The price must be set in the currency corresponding to the origin defined before that, with the VAT included.
The barcode is the EAN or ISBN of the item. If the item doesn't have one, leave that field empty.
The label is used when the release has a specificity: If it was an exclusive release, put the name of the shop or event where the item was released. If it is the L size release of a shirt, put it there too.
The preorders start and end date can be defined if the item can be preordered for that release. You can set the start and leave the end unset if is not known.

Format
The paper format of the item, if applicable (A4, B5...).

Run time

For figures - If the figure contains removable parts that make it NSFW when removed, it is cast-off. A figure is not cast-off if taking off the clothes involves breaking part of it.
Scale
For figures - If the figure has a specified scale like 1/7 or 1/4.
Counterfeit
If there are known counterfeits of the item, it should be flagged as counterfeit to warn people wanting to buy one.
Rating
The age rating of the item. Any NSFW item should be rated 18+, if another rating is not explicitly given by the manufacturer.
Draft
Any item with incomplete information should be flagged as draft. It allows other users to edit it to add the missing information.
More info
Information that can be useful about the item, like links to online shops or announcements. You can use BBCode to insert urls like so: [url=https://shop-url.com]Shop Name[/url].
Cancelled
Flag the item as cancelled if it was announced but then cancelled.
Tags
You can add appropriate tags to the item, for people to find or filter it more easily.
Duplicating an item
It is possible to use any item as a basis for creating a new one, by clicking the duplication button. This will open the item creation page with pre-filled fields; it can be very useful if your item is similar to the one you are duplicating.
When duplicating an item, you can choose to link it to the new item by choosing in the "duplicate as" select box. See Items Relations.
- You can duplicate the Japanese edition of Toaru Kagaku no Railgun volume 1 as "Adaptation" to create volume 1 of the english edition.
- You can duplicate Harry Potter volume 1 as "Next" to create Harry Potter Volume 2
Items relations
It is possible to link items together depending on their relation.
- Variant is used when the two items are variants of each other.
Example: Harry Potter volume 1 Deluxe is a variant of Harry Potter volume 1 - Bundled with is used when the two items are sold in a bundle.
- Same set is used when the two items belong in a set. This does not apply to media series.
Example: Rem and Ram belong in the same set, so we can link them to make it easier to find the other one. - Contains is used when the current item contains the other item.
Example: The Harry Potter Omnibus contains Harry Potter volume 1 (and the 6 others). - Contained in is used when the current item is contained in the other item.
Example: Harry Potter volume 1 is contained in the Harry Potter Omnibus. - Next is used when the other item follows the current item
Example: Harry Potter volume 2 follows Harry Potter volume 1, so we choose "next" when linking volume 2 from volume 1's page. - Previous is used when the other item comes before the current item
Example: Harry Potter volume 2 comes before Harry Potter volume 3, so we choose "previous" when linking volume 2 from volume 3's page. - Adaptation is used when the item is an adaptation of the other item.
Example: The English edition of A Certain Scientific Railgun volume 1 is an adaptation of Toaru Kagaku no Railgun volume 1 in Japanese.
Creating an entity
CDB's main purpose is to register items and not entities, so the only way to create an entity is when creating or editing and item. Entities can be updated by anyone after their creation, via their respective page. An entity is anything that is not an item and that can be related to an item: Sources, Characters, Artists, Companies, Classifications, Materials, Events.
Image
An entity can have an image to better describe it. It can be a social media profile picture, an official logo or banner or any image showing what the entity is.
The entity image can also be cropped to define which part of the image will be used as a thumbnail.
Name/Original Name
Name and Original Name are mandatory fields for an entity. The same rules as for the item title applies: if the original name is not written using the alphabet, the name must be its equivalent using the alphabet. In the other case, Name and Original Name must have the same value.
Origin
The country of origin of the entity.
Aliases
The other names that this entity can have, like nicknames or translated names. Each alias must be separated by a carriage return.
Links
The web pages related to this entity. It can be an official website, a blog or a social media account for example. Flag the link as NSFW if the page contains explicit content.
About
Use this field if you want to add information on the entity.
Start & End Dates
Only for events - The start and end dates of the event. If the event took place on a single day, set the same date for start and end. Setting the dates will allow users to create item releases with the dates and name of the event!
NSFW content
NSFW stands for Not Safe For Work (Adult content)When creating an item:
- If it contains NSFW content, flag it as NSFW using the corresponding checkbox.
- If it is adult content that could disturb most audiences, also flag it as NSFW+.
- If its image is NSFW, flag the image as NSFW using the corresponding checkbox.
- If a NSFW link is in the description of the item, add "(NSFW)" after it.

Copyright
- Uploading other people's images under your name is strictly forbidden.
Profile customization
- NSFW images are strictly prohibited, for profile pictures or any image used for profile customization.

Account settings
The explicit items filter has 3 levels:

- Blur explicit items: NSFW content appears in searches, but its images are blurred
- Show explicit items: all NSFW content appears
NSFW+ items are adult content that could disturb most audiences. They are only shown to the users allowed to see them who enabled "Show NSFW+ items", and never when all explicit items are hidden.
CDB reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to remove offending content from its website without notice and to ban users breaking these guidelines or the terms of use. CDB will determine in its sole discretion if these guidelines are or aren't violated.
